I mean let’s be honest who doesn’t remember Pro Beach Hockey and how epic it was/looked.
4 weeks of Beach Hockey right on Huntington Beach in California. Some NHLers would join the games as well. It looked like an absolute unreal time it was on ESPN2, with the 2 point shooting line, Ramps on the back and even having to wear V form skates for the first couple seasons. We have had the pleasure to have some legends on our Podcast that played and even won the PBH, CJ Yoder and Joe Cook to learn more about the unreal experineces.
So It got me thinking how in the world do we get Roller Hockey back on ESPN. I mean how many people have been wheelin around during quarantine ? Probably more than ever.
There’s already an event that would be perfect for Roller Hockey Summer X-GAMES!! It has the perfect environment full of Monster drinking, No shirt wearing, Sport loving fans! Half the events are on wheels anyways , Motocross, skateboarding, BMX. Now let's throw some Roller in there. Roller Hockey has the unreal Flashy looking uniforms already too! How sick would it be to see Schiavo , John John or Itan putting on an unreal display of a skills comp after a Motocross event or BMX event. Man It would be the perfect crowd for Roller Hockey, These fans want to see exciting stuff and some crazy shit happens in Roller! They're gonna be going nuts in the stands and the boys on the rink will love it shit you might even get a nice ol Tilt going This would add so much excitement for the Sport of Roller Hockey and even X GAMES, It’s something new that will bring entertainment.
Now you ask how do you get this to work. Pretty simple if that Red Bull crash series can go city to city Roller absolutely can. We create the X games pro series that hit small cities doing events like Couple games a day over the weekend. Then top teams at the end of the series get an INVITE ONLY and the sponsors have teams or if even NHLers or Celebs want to sponsor teams they could. You play on a Euro style rink with Regular sized goals, 4v4, You put in a 2 point line at half court since that would technically be the Blue line. Two 15 minute quarters. Full check. This brings back a little of the RHI / PBH days with physicality and the added2 point line. You could set this up in a Stadium , Coliseum or even an outdoor environment (Would be sick to do it at HB). I think adding these rules would create an entertainment value where fans would love to watch and be in the action. It would be up in your face action the whole time!
Imagine a John John , Junior Cadiz, Noe , and Itan all on the rink at the same time during an event like this., The crowds would be going insane from the skill level these guys have. Let's gooo, X-GAMES HERE WE COME!
